Bangiriposi–Bishoi Road Widening and Improvement Work in Mayurbhanj District Heavy.

Bangiriposi–Bishoi Road Widening and Improvement Work in Mayurbhanj District Heavy Vehicle Movement Prohibited from October 10 to 25 Due to the ongoing widening and improvement work of the Bangiriposi–Bishoi road in Mayurbhanj district, movement of heavy vehicles through the Bangiriposi Ghat (Dwarasuni Ghat) will remain prohibited from October 10 to October 25, between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM every day. The roadwork has been continuing for a long time, but due to delays in completion, local residents have been facing serious inconvenience and danger during travel, leading to the loss of several precious lives. This route is the only major road connecting Karanjia and Rairangpur via Bishoi to Baripada Sadar subdivision, Kalikata, Bahuda, and the Gudapatupada–Jharkhand region. However, due to the negligence and indifference of the government, administration, and National Highway Department (NH), this road has become extremely accident-prone. Even after repeated news reports and public complaints, no effective action was taken for a long time. The Bangiriposi Ghat (Dwarasuni Ghat) is a part of National Highway-49 (NH-49), stretching about 9 kilometers from Bangiriposi to Rajabasa (near Bishoi). Along this stretch lies the famous Dwarasuni Shakti Temple, a well-known pilgrimage site. Since the 9-kilometer stretch between Bangiriposi and Bishoi is narrow and filled with potholes, it has turned into a dangerous route for travelers. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is currently widening and upgrading NH-49 into a four-lane highway, which falls under the Bishoi NH Sub-Division of Bangiriposi. However, movement of heavy vehicles — particularly those transporting timber logs and firewood — is causing serious obstruction to the ongoing highway widening and strengthening work. Therefore, in the interest of public safety and smooth progress of the project, it has become necessary to restrict the movement of heavy vehicles on both sides of NH-49 at Dwarasuni Ghat (between Bishoi and Bangiriposi) for a few hours each day. After thorough examination of the situation, and to ensure smooth loading and transport operations (of timber and firewood) as well as efficient progress of the highway widening project without traffic congestion, heavy vehicles (except public buses, school and college buses, police and defense vehicles, and emergency relief carriers) are strictly prohibited from plying between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM from October 10 to October 25, 2025, on both sides of the road. All members of the public are requested to cooperate for the successful completion of the project. Small vehicles are permitted to use the ghat road, or they may take the alternative route via Bishoi–Argalbindha–Sankhabhanga–Joka–Chandanpur–Katara Square to ensure smooth travel and avoid traffic congestion.
